Short version: your projects stay on your device. We never sell or share your data — the only things we collect are anonymous usage analytics and crash reports.
StitchWIP ("the App") is a cross-stitch WIP tracker for iOS and Android developed by StitchWIP Studio. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use the App.
The short version: StitchWIP is designed to be private by default. All data you enter into the app — your projects, sessions, inventory, stats, and settings — is stored entirely on your device. We do not operate servers that collect or store your personal data.
We do not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:
All app data is stored locally on your device using standard iOS or Android storage. This data is included in your device's standard backup (iCloud Backup or Finder backup on iOS, Google backup on Android) if you have backup enabled. We never have access to this data.
If you delete the app, all locally stored data is permanently deleted from your device.
StitchWIP offers an optional one-time in-app purchase called "StitchWIP Pro." In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store on iOS, or by Google through Google Play on Android. We do not collect, store, or process your payment information. The privacy policy of the store you purchase through governs any data collected during the purchase process.
When RevenueCat is integrated for purchase management, RevenueCat may collect certain transaction data (such as purchase dates and anonymized identifiers) in accordance with their own Privacy Policy. No personal data you enter into the app is shared with RevenueCat.
If you grant permission, the App may send local notifications (deadline reminders, daily stitch nudges, etc.). These notifications are generated and delivered entirely on your device. We do not use push notification services or remote servers to send notifications.
StitchWIP uses Google Analytics (via the GA4 Measurement Protocol) to collect anonymized usage data — which screens are opened, how long the app is used for, which features are reached, and whether a purchase screen was shown or a purchase completed. This helps us understand what's working and improve the app over time.
A random identifier is generated on first launch and stored on your device. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID, Google account, or any personal information, and it is not an advertising identifier. No personally identifiable information is ever sent to Google Analytics, and nothing you enter into the app — project names, photos, notes, sessions, or stash — is ever included. Google also receives your IP address, as it does with any web request.
Google Analytics data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
If the App hits an unexpected error, a crash report is sent to Sentry so the problem can be diagnosed and fixed. Without this, a crash that only happens on certain devices is effectively invisible to us.
A report contains the error message, the technical stack trace showing which part of the code failed, basic device information such as device model, operating system version and app version, and a short trail of which controls were tapped just beforehand. It does not include your projects, photos, notes, or any other content you have entered, and the App is configured not to attach personally identifying information to reports. Crash reports are not linked to any account, because StitchWIP does not have one.
Data handled by Sentry is governed by Sentry's Privacy Policy.
StitchWIP uses Expo Application Services (EAS Update) to deliver bug fixes and improvements. When you open the App, it checks Expo's servers over a secure connection to see whether an update is available, and quietly downloads it in the background if there is one.
That check sends only what is needed to answer it: your device's operating system, the version of the App you are running, and a randomly generated installation ID. Expo also receives your IP address, as any web request does. It does not send your name, your projects, your photos, or anything else you have entered into the App, and it does not use advertising identifiers.
These updates change the App itself. They never move your data off your device.
Data handled by Expo is governed by Expo's Privacy Policy.
The App integrates with the following services, and no others:
StitchWIP does not integrate advertising or social SDKs. The App does not use:
StitchWIP is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since no personal information is collected from any user, there is no specific risk to children's data.
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the effective date above and may notify users through an in-app notice on the next app launch. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
