The photos you take of your progress are some of the most special things in StitchWIP — watching a piece come to life stitch by stitch is half the joy. So this update focused on making sure those photos are treated with the care they deserve, and giving you more control over them along the way.
Here’s everything that’s new.
📸 Your Photos, Kept Safe
- Progress photos are now saved permanently — they will no longer disappear after an app update.
- Your backups now include your photos, so if you restore on a new phone, your pictures come with them.
- Photos are automatically optimized when you save them — the app feels snappier and your backups are much smaller, with no visible loss in quality.
🖼️ New Ways to Manage Photos
- Tap any photo in a project to set it as your cover — not just the one you added at the start.
- Delete a single photo you no longer want. Your stitches, time, and notes from that session are always kept — only the photo is removed.
- A redesigned Session History: a larger, cleaner photo sits beside each entry with the details easy to read at a glance.
- Long photo galleries now tuck into a tidy preview with a “Show all” button, so a well-documented project doesn’t fill the whole screen.
🧵 Smoother Progress Tracking
- Logging a few stitches on a project no longer resets your progress bar.
- Frogging stays put — ripping out stitches no longer gets undone the next time you log a session.
- Editing your project costs now shows your currency and cents, so a value reads like “$18.00” instead of a bare number.
- Cost Breakdown can now be collapsed to keep your project screen neat.
🔔 Never Miss an Update
- When a new version of StitchWIP is ready, you’ll see a friendly heads-up right on your home screen with a one-tap button to update.
- No more wondering whether you’re on the latest and greatest.
🐛 Under the Hood
- Backups: your automatic on-device backup now saves everything your manual export does — inventory, goals, wheel presets, and settings included.
- Stability: fixed a rare crash that could happen on the Home, Stats, Sessions, and Tools screens when restoring an older backup.
- Deadlines: the home screen pace estimate now correctly accounts for stitches you’d already done when you started a project.
- SAL projects: editing a session and clearing its stitch count no longer throws a part’s totals off.
The update is rolling out on the App Store now — you should see it shortly if it hasn’t arrived already. Android testers have the latest build too.
